Triple Advantage Program
Experian’s Triple Advantage Program monitors the customer’s credit reports from all three credit bureaus. Monitoring is done on a daily basis, so every change from every transaction will show up on the reports. It also alerts the customer of possible identity theft, fraud, and other common risks. Users can opt to receive email alerts of key changes in their report, or view them by logging in to the site.
Triple Advantage also offers the user unlimited access to credit reports from all three bureaus, as well as the user’s credit scores. Reports can be viewed in seconds provided there are no problems in verifying the user’s identity. Inquiries made by other parties will pull the score down by one or two points per inquiry, but viewing one’s own report does not affect the score.
Triple Advantage also offers useful online tools such as informative articles, credit surveys, and financial calculators. Users can also talk to online assistants for questions on various credit-related topics, as well as insurance, costs, and identity theft prevention.
Perhaps its biggest draw is the $50,000 Triple Advantage Guarantee. Under the guarantee, Experian will reimburse customers for up to $50,000 if they become victims of identity theft while using Triple Advantage. Identity theft, as defined by the company, is when a person’s name, credit card number, social security number, address, bank accounts, or other personal information is used by another party to commit fraud or any related crime. If identity theft is proven, Triple Advantage will reimburse the costs directly resulting from the crime, such as stolen funds, legal expenses, private investigations, lost wages, and miscellaneous costs such as loan application fees and phone calls.
The guarantee applies to active members who regularly take actions to protect themselves against identity theft. Because of state law restrictions, the Triple Advantage Guarantee is not offered to residents of the state of New York.
