FreeCreditReport.com Credit Report Details

The free online credit report is a three-in-one report combining credit information from all three credit bureaus. It is divided into six sections: Personal Profile, Credit Summary, Public Records, Credit Inquiries, Account History, and Credit Score. Tabs on top of the web page allow users to navigate sections without having to scroll down. Here’s a detailed list of the information in each tab:

Personal Profile: This is where all the basic information about the customer is contained, such as legal names, addresses, date of birth, social security number, and current and previous employers. The information from each bureau can be printed out so that errors can easily be spotted.

Credit Summary: This section lists all the customer’s credit accounts, both current and closed. The accounts are classified according to type (open, installment, and revolving) and include the balances, monthly payments, and current status of each.

Public Records: Any records gleaned from public sources such as courthouses and federal district records will be listed in this section. Examples are monetary judgments, tax liens, and filings for bankruptcy.

Credit Inquiries: This is where any inquiries or requests for the credit report for the last two years will be shown. The inquiring party and date of inquiry are usually provided.

Account History: This shows all the accounts opened by the customer in the past. Each account has its own table showing the account name, number, type, status, date opened (and if applicable, date closed), balances, credit limits, and other key indicators.

Credit Score: Experian provides a PLUS credit score calculated from the credit report details. The exact scoring system is not known (only FICO has so far revealed its criteria), but several resource sites offer information on understanding and improving credit scores. These include credit.com. Credit Report (creditreport.com), myFICO (myfico.com), and True Credit (trucredit.com).
